2014 Canadian West Open Recap

Nationals MedalsAfter three days of amazing volleyball, the 2014 14U Canadian West Open came to a close on Sunday afternoon. Over 100 teams had traveled from all over Canada to Abbotsford, BC to compete in the open national championship for 14 and under teams.

The event kicked off Thursday evening with an opening ceremony, which included a welcome from Volleyball BC Executive Director Chris Densmore and a keynote speech delivered by Josh Howatson of the Canadian National Team. Friday morning, attendees entered the
Tradex Convention Centre and began playing in the matches that would eventually lead the top teams to Sunday’s medal rounds.

Volleyball BC held a Mother’s Day gift draw on Sunday morning and gave away four beautiful baskets to some happy moms. On Sunday afternoon the final matches were decided and Josh Howatson was on hand to present medals to the teams.

Volleyball Canada and Volleyball BC would like to thank all of the players, parents, coaches, officials, and volunteers who made this event possible. Next year, the
2015 Volleyball Canada Championships will be held in Calgary, Alberta where all age
groups will compete in one location.
