Volleyball Canada Announces Senior Men’s B Team

Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce the names of the athletes selected to its 2014 B men’s team. During the selection camp held in Gatineau, Quebec, a total of 59 players battled hard for four days under the direction of Team Canada Head Coach Glenn Hoag. Five players from Volleyball Canada’s full-time training centre are part of the roster announced today.

“This was one of the larger selection camps we have had. It gave us an opportunity to identify and assess a lot of players,” explained Hoag. “I was impressed with the level of intensity that our young athletes were able to sustain right through the camp.”

The senior A and B group will be training together in Gatineau, with the B team heading to Mexico for the Pan-Am Cup from Aug. 9 to 17.  The next stop for senior A team is the World Championship Qualifier and then World League. Coaches Hoag and Georges Laplante will be adding players from the Senior A team to the Pan Am Cup roster as the season progresses.

The B team coaches are Laplante with assistants Ryan Ratushniak and Nathan Groenveld. “I’m looking forward to working with this promising group of athletes this summer,” said B team Head Coach Laplante. “We had some talented athletes in the camp, and now the hard work begins!”
