Volleyball BC is dedicated to supporting coaches in British Columbia with education, training, and NCCP certification opportunities.

Please read through our sections below to learn more about Coaching programs supported by Volleyball BC.

What is the NCCP?

The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is a collaborative program of the government of Canada, the provincial/territorial governments, national and provincial sport federations and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC). This partnership, in place since 1974, is largely responsible for building an internationally recognized coach education program in over 65 different sports in French and English.

The NCCP is the recognized national standard for coach training and certification in Canada and is designed to meet the needs of all types of coaches, from the first-time coach to the head coach of a national team. As part of the program, all coaches are trained in ethical decision-making and sport safety.

Volleyball NCCP Pathways

The NCCP guides Volleyball BC’s youth club system within the framework of the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. Each NCCP course has three distinct phases toward certification. Completion of each phase provides the coach with one of three designations: “In Training”, “Trained”, or “Certified”. For more information on the pathways and how to get certified, please follow the links below.
