TWU – Spartans Set to Host MacEwan, Look to Stay Unbeaten

LANGLEY, B.C. – The defending Canada West champion and No. 1 ranked Trinity Western women’s volleyball team will look to stay unbeaten on the season as they host MacEwan Friday and Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

THE WEEKEND STORY

  • The Spartans will look to continue rolling after a pair of three-set wins over Winnipeg last weekend, improving to 4-0 on the season.
  • MacEwan comes to town with a 2-2 record, after earning their first two wins of the season, both 3-0 decisions over Regina (Oct. 25-26).
  • Spartans outside hitter Hilary Howe (Calgary) sits first in Canada West averaging 4.77 kills per set, which comes after recording 30 kills over last weekend’s series.
  • TWU libero Emma Gamache (Abbotsford, B.C.) sits second in digs per set, averaging 4.23.
  • The Spartans currently lead the conference averaging 18.5 pts/set, while the Griffins are sixth, averaging 15.7.
  • Last season MacEwan finished with a 12-12 record, which had them ninth in the conference.
  • TWU holds an 8-2 all-time record against the Griffins, with its only two losses coming last season on the road (Feb. 8-9, 2019).

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women’s and men’s soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country and track & field, as well as women’s rugby sevens. TWU also competes in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) in men’s hockey and as an independent team in men’s rugby.
