TRU – Wolfpack Women’s Volleyball Remain Unbeaten With Sweep of Calgary

There are two unbeaten teams after the opening pair of weekends in Canada West women’s volleyball and the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are one of them.
The Pack moved to 4-0 as they swept their home opening weekend series with the University of Calgary Dinos.  After a three set sweep on Friday night (Oct 25), the Pack beat the Dinos 3-1 on Saturday (Oct 26) at the Tournament Capital Centre
.
The sores were 27-25,25-19,27-29, 25-22.   The Dinos are winless in four starts.

SYNOPSIS:
The WoflPack wre led offensively by Kseniya Kocyigit (1st year,middle, Byaroza, Belarus) who had 15 kills in 21 swings, three service aces, four digs, a solo block and two block assists.
Kendra Finch (5th year, outside hitter, North Vancouver, BC) had 13 kills in 53 chances and 11 digs.  Hayley McNaught (2nd year, middle, Woking, Alberta) had a breakout match: 11 kills in 19 attempts with two service aces, four digs, two solo blocks and two block assists.  She was named “The Den” Leader of the Pack player of the match.

Anastasiia Muzyka (3rd year, setter, Poltawa, Ukraine) had  52 assists, two service aces, eight digs and four block assists.  Olga Savenchuk (2nd year, outside hitter, Donetsk, Ukraine) had 9 kills in 31 chances with 16 digs.  Hali Drezet (4th year, libero, Prince George, BC)  added 16 digs as well.

Calgary was led by fifth year middle Beth Vinnell (Calgary, AB) with 12 kills in 31 swings. Lexi Peart (4th year, setter, Calgary, AB) had 38 assists and nine digs.   Kenzie Baaanderling (3rd year, outside hitter, Calgary, AB) had 14 digs while Kennedy Snape (5th year, libero, Kelowna, BC) had 11 digs.

NEXT UP:

Both teams are idle next week and return to league play on Friday November 8th. Calgary is at home to the MacEwan Griffins while the WolfPack will tangle with the Alberta Pandas at the Tournament Capital Centre. It is a rematch of the first round Canada West playoff series where the Pack took the Pandas to a full three games before losing.
