Volleyball Canada is reporting that the number of teams registering this year for Canadian Open Championship events has increased from last year’s record of 772, to 824 for 2014. The increase of 52 teams means an additional 750 athletes and coaches will be taking part in these events.

“I’m very proud of the hard work by the host organizing committees to create more capacity in their respective Canadian Open Championships in order to allow more teams to participate this year,” said Chrissy Benz, Volleyball Canada’s Domestic Competitions Director.

Volleyball BC is hosting the Canadian West Open for 14U Girls and 14U Boys at the Tradex Convention Centre in Abbotsford, B.C. from May 9th to May 11th. There are expected to be over 120 teams participating in this event with spectators from all across the region attending.
