TWU – Spartans Sweep Wolfpack to Open West Coast Classic

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western earned a 3-0 (30-28, 27-25, 25-15) win over Thompson Rivers in the opening game of the West Coast Classic Friday at the Langley Events Centre.

After earning a pair of hard-fought wins in the first and second sets – both of which went beyond 25 points – the Spartans found a tidy rhythm in the third set, rolling to a 10-point win to take the match.

TWU is now 3-1 in the preseason.

QUOTABLE
TWU Coach Ryan Hofer
“It was a really competitive game tonight. It was nice to go up against a good Canada West team, who was swinging at the ball. It gave us an opportunity to test our block. Tonight we had a lot of players on the court who got an opportunity to show what they can do and they did a really nice job. I was really pleased with how we played under pressure and how we were able to win close games. We tried to put pressure on TRU from the baseline and I thought our servers did a good job.”

NEXT UP
The Spartans will have a day off before wrapping up the West Coast Classic with a game against local rival UBC Sunday at 2 p.m. at the LEC.
