TWU – Spartans Win Second Straight at Blue Team Cup

VANCOUVER – Trinity Western earned its second win in a row at the Blue Team Cup, beating UBC Okanagan 3-0 (25-8, 26-24, 29-27) Thursday at UBC.

After rolling to a convincing first-set win, the Spartans had to battle back from a five-point deficit midway through the second set to earn the win, before nabbing the win thanks to a victory in a lengthy third set.

The win sees the defending national champion Spartans improve to 3-0 in the preseason.

Ben Josephson – TWU Head Coach
“I thought we played really clean in the first set. Then, I think we saw UBCO adjust to the speed of our serves and some of the things we were doing offensively and they also served much tougher and competed much better after that. Sets two and three were really competitive. I really like the pressure we were put under by UBCO. I really liked the way our kids responded. Overall, I’m happy we got a win and we got a lot of good information on where we’re at.”
