We want to support you to referee volleyball as safely as possible. Your safety is our priority.

On this page you can find information about what VBC’s Return to Play plan means for you, what you can expect during this Transition Phase.

At all times you should be aware of and follow public health guidelines.

When you choose to participate in physical activities outside the home during the pandemic – including volleyball – you are at an increased risk of contracting COVID 19. This is an inherent risk of participating in non-essential activities in your community

Volleyball is considered a medium risk sport for COVID-19 because we share the use of a ball. Carefully assess your personal health situation before coaching.

If you are over 65 years, immuno-compromised or have underlying health conditions, refereeing volleyball is not recommended. If you live with higher risk individuals, consider your participation carefully.

A safe return to volleyball will take place in phases that align with public health guidelines about the safe resumption of activity. The diagram on the right shows these phases.

We are currently in “Transition Measures” phase during which competitive volleyball is not permitted as it does not permit physical distancing.

As we move into the “Progressively Loosen” and “New Normal” phases, games and competition will start to be introduced.  This will pave the way for referees to become part of the activities.

We are committed to keeping you updated as this evolves.
