Wild finishes for gold at the 17/18U Provincial Championships!

Fans were on the edge of their seat this weekend at the 2015 Volleyball BC 17/18U Provincial Championships as all three of the division 1 gold medal matches went to three sets to decide the champion. The Provincial Club Championships were held at the Richmond Olympic Oval this year and included 17/18U boys and girls club teams from all across British Columbia.

The event kicked off with pool play on Friday, and Saturday morning brought the start of the playoff rounds. Late on Saturday evening, the 17U girls division 1 gold medal match (video) began with Force taking on a Ducks Evan team that had earlier beat Force in pool play (25-21, 25-20). It was a very close match with lots of big hits and in the end Force was able to close the door in the third set to get the win (21-25, 25-19, 15-11).

Over on feature court, a fierce 18U boys division 1 gold medal match (video) that included Kelowna KaPow! taking on FVVC Agoge was generating a lot of crowd noise. FVVC Agoge came out strong in the first set but Kelowna KaPow! battled back in a close second set to force the deciding third set where they were able to stretch a lead and win the match (15-25, 25-23, 15-7).

2015Volleyball BC Provincial ChampionshipsOn Sunday afternoon, the 18U girls division 1 final (video) was a match up between BCO Elite and Team Academy Blitz who had faced each other earlier in a three set pool play match. BCO Elite showed some strong blocking and hitting while winning the first set but Team Academy Blitz got their offense going in the second set and were able to force a third set. The final set looked to be anyone’s game with back-and-forth action all the way to a 10-10 score. In the end, BCO pulled away for the win and the championship (25-16,23-25,15-11).
