Media Release: Volleyball BC announces the departure of Densmore as CEO

VANCOUVER, May 31, 2019 – The Volleyball BC Board of Directors announces the resignation of Chris Densmore from the role of CEO, as he moves on to an opportunity in the private sector.

Densmore’s dedication to the sport of volleyball spans over 25 years. Prior to becoming CEO in 2011, he spent seven years serving as Volleyball BC’s Regional Coach for Vancouver Island and Beach Volleyball Director. He also coached Club Volleyball for two decades, Malaspina/VIU for 12 years, Team BC’s Indoor and Beach programs for six summers, and UBC for a year.

“My time as Volleyball BC’s CEO has been incredibly fulfilling” said Densmore. “I would like to thank the organization’s Board of Directors, staff, players, officials, partners, sponsors and communities who have done so much to grow the sport within the province.”

Densmore lives in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and cites proximity to his wife, Olivia, and two children as a key reason for his departure. His last day as CEO of Volleyball BC is Aug. 31, 2019.

The Volleyball BC Board of Directors will be releasing information about the available CEO position in the imminent future.

“On behalf of our Board of Directors, I want to thank Chris for his exemplary leadership and dedication to the organization” said Boris Tyzuk, President of Volleyball BC. “We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to Olivia and their family, who have been extremely supportive of his role, responsibilities and traveling requirements throughout the years.”

“In the meantime, Chris will help with the transition of Volleyball BC’s new CEO. We continue to wish Chris the very best.”
