TRU – Wolfpack MVB Win Final Exhibition Match

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack and the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat worked off a little ‘Thanksgiving Day’ Turkey on Monday night (Oct 14).
Playing at the old TRU gym, the two schools played an exhibition men’s volleyball match. The WolfPack won it in three sets. The scores were 25-20,25-18,25-21. They played a fourth set and Thompson Rivers took that 25-20.

TRU was led by fifth year middle Kyle Behiels (Edmonton, AB). He had seven service aces, three blocks and five kills. Ryan Hampe (2nd year, outside hitter, Prince George, BC) had nine kills, one block and one service ace for 11 points.

“Kyle has a dominant serving game and gave us points every time he was serving,” said WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly. ” Overall, a solid performance with great serving and steady passing from Charlie (Bringloe, 5th year, outside hitter, Waterloo, ON) Nino (Benne, outside hitter, Castricum,Netherlands) and Landon (Currie, 3rd year, libero, Vernon, BC). It was a good match after two weeks off leading into the start of the season.”

The WolfPack will head to Brandon, Manitoba to open the 2019-20 Canada West campaign against the defending regular season champion Bobcats. The teams will play matches Friday and Saturday (Oct 18-19).

Thompson Rivers home opener is Friday, October 25th at the Tournament Capital Centre when the University of Calgary Dinos come to visit. Match time is 6:45 pm. All WolfPack matches—home and away—will be shown on a pay-per-view basis on Canada West TV presented by Co-op. You can access by going to: https://cw.yaretv.com/
