BC member headed to London Olympics

Congratulations goes out to one of our own members of Volleyball BC, Christopher Torr will be heading to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England. Chris is a National beach volleyball referee for Volleyball Canada as well as being a regional indoor referee. He has been accepted to assist in the Olympic beach volleyball office with the “Timing and Scoring with the Technology” team during the London 2012 Games. His main role will be as a statistician for each match that is played on the centre court which will be seen all over the world from July 25th – August 9th.

Chris’s beach volleyball history is extensive, he played on the Labatt Beach Professional beach volleyball tour in the early 90’s, represented Canada on the FIVB beach volleyball World Tour from 1997-2001 and was the Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) national beach volleyball head coach for both men’s and women’s teams for the2001-2002 seasons.  Since that time Chris has been refereeing here in Canada and other countries, which include the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) in the United States from 2008 to present, the New Zealand Professional Beach Volleyball tour (2010) and  Australian National Beach Volleyball Tour (2011) and a stop on the NORCECA beach volleyball tour this past March in the Cayman Islands.
