The long weekend was filled with volleyball in Vancouver as the KINeSYS Big West Volleyfest event took over Spanish Banks West and East for three days. Over 600 players took part in the 8 different tournaments and the competition was fantastic. Our Youth Beach Provincial Championships were packed with young teams looking to step on the podium. The youth competed on Saturday and Sunday at with our final matches and awards ceremonies taking place Sunday afternoon.

The Adult Pro and Amateur Beach Provincial Championships also took place on Saturday and Sunday. For the pro teams in the tournament it was a chance to have their names added to the Provincial Championships alongside some big names (including Wilt Chamberlain)! The men and women came to play and after a long two days of competition McNamara/McNamara took the Women’s Championships and Lebourdais/Wiskar won the Men’s Championships.

Volleyball BC also ran a coed 4’s tournament and youth and adult King/Queen of the Beach tournaments. We a had a great turnout for these first year events and the All-in Pro King/Queen tournaments had players hungry for the cash ($1250 Men/$700 Women). The coed 4’s teams and the masters, amateur, and youth KOB/QOB tournaments generated a lot of smiles and some tired players at the end of sunny long weekend.
