When do you lose when you don’t even play? That’s the situation the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball team find themselves in with the release of this week’s U SPORTS top ten rankings.
The WolfPack were idle last week from Canada West play.
Despite not playing, Thompson Rivers has fallen from eighth in the national rankings last week to 10 th this time around. It wasn’t unexpected. Head coach Pat Hennelly said last week that he believed his team would drop in the ratings because they are based on winning per cent.
There’s a chance the Pack could drop out of the top 10 next week because they sit idle for a second week. That’s because TRU is to play the University of Regina this time around and the Cougars collapsed their men’s program over the summer. Hennelly and company don’t return to action until Friday, November 16th when the University of Winnipeg Wesmen invade the Tournament Capital Centre. The Wesmen are sitting in sixth spot in the national ratings this time around, up from 10th.
A look at the U SPORTS top ten for the week ending November 4th have McMaster jumping into the number one spot from third. Laval has dropped from first to second with Brandon falling from second to third.
Other Canada West teams in the top ten have Alberta remaining at fourth position, Trinity Western has leaped into fifth sot from seventh last week. Winnipeg at number six. Mount Royal dropped one position from sixth to seventh. Saskatchewan is ninth, one ahead of TRU.
