Roster Selection Announcement

Volleyball BC is proud to announce the Male and Female rosters for the U19 Team BC Select teams. The top 18 athletes in British Columbia are selected for both male and female teams including 2 training alternates on the female roster. Athletes will represent British Columbia at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ontario in August, as well as the Canada Cup in Calgary, Alberta in July.

During the last Canada Cup in 2019, teams competed in Halifax, Nova Scotia where the Team BC Male Select team placed 1st in Division 1 and the Team BC Female Select team placed 3rd in Division 1. At the 2017 Canada Summer Games, teams competed in Winnipeg, Manitoba where the Team BC Female Select team placed 7th and our Team BC Male Select team placed 3rd.

Head Coach Charles Parkinson will lead the men’s team alongside Assistant Coach Kelvin Ma.

“The selection of Team BC this summer was extremely difficult as there were so many talented athletes committed to representing British Columbia. This year’s Selects are a blend of athlete’s who have completed their first year of College or University training and competition and others who have just finished up their high school careers. The team is deep in every position and the overall size, skill level, athleticism and work ethic are very impressive. Our coaching team can’t wait to work with this talented group all through a summer that will be geared towards performance volleyball. After training in both Vancouver and Kamloops our first major test will be the Canada Cup in July, where we’ll face teams from across Canada for the first time. This will be a sneak peak and help in our final preparation for the Canada Games in the Niagara Region in August, an event in which British Columbia has a rich history of success. Our goal is to build upon that tradition and with the athletes that have been selected, the summer program Volleyball BC has put together, and the great support of British Columbia’s Canada Games program, we’re confident men’s volleyball will Rock the House in 2022!”  – Charles Parkinson (Head Coach)

Thank you to all the school, club and post secondary coaches for all your hard work with these athletes and of course the parents. I have had the privilege to work with most of these athletes over the last 3 years and I believe I can speak for all the coaches when I say they are equally as great of people as they are volleyball players. I’m also very thankful and excited to work with our amazing coaching staff, Janelle Rozema, Brent Hall and Gina Schmidt, as well as our first class support staff of  Mischa Harris (Athlete Wellness) and Carl Neinhuis (Mental Performance). I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the players and other coaches who have been a part of this 3 year journey but are not with us this summer. Specifically to coaches Jodi Zybyszeski, Becki Garner, Erick Chou, and performance coach Gisele Kruger.  Thanks for all your hard work and support over the last three years. Lastly I want to say a special thank you to VBC Technical Director Jay Tremonti who has led our HP programs through these very challenging times. We wouldn’t be here without him. I believe we have the right people on the bus, and now it’s time to get to work so we can represent BC to the best of our abilities and bring home some hardware!” – Ryan Adams (Head Coach)
