Program Overview

The Team BC Red & Blue program’s goal is an athlete’s first opportunity to be identified to train, grow, and compete In a High Performance Environment. Athletes identified will have future potential to develop and compete to represent BC at national and post-secondary levels.

The 2023 Team BC Red & Blue program will identify BC’s top athletes (16U), and select to train and compete at the Canada Cup. Athletes will train in a camp based program for up to 12 days. Training is led by a full coaching staff and integrated support team to ensure athletes meet their full potential.

Eligible Athletes

Team BC Red & Blue 16U – BC athletes born in 2007 or later.

The extended 16-month age categories do apply for the Team BC Red & Blue 16U program. 

Athlete Identification & Selection Process

*New for 2023* Team BC Red & Blue Program, athletes identification will consist of multiple identification pathways. Athletes will have multiple avenues to be identified through club provincial evaluation and/or selection camp participation.  Full steps in the identification details are TBD.

Team BC Red & Blue HP Camp

Overview: *New for 2023* The Team BC Red & Blue HP camp is a 6 day camp aimed at 1) Introduce a High Performance Training Environment to the top 16U athletes in BC , 2) Act as the final step in the selection process for the Team BC Red & Blue program. 

Eligible Athletes: BC athletes born in 2007 or later who have been identified and invited to participate in the program selection camp.

Number of Positions Available: up to 48 athletes to be selected too attend the Team BC Red & Blue HP Camp. 14 Athletes & 2 Training Alternates will be selected to continue to train with the Team BC Red & Blue program at the conclusion of the HP Camp. 

Selection Policy & Criteria: Athletes selection for the Team BC Red & Blue Program will follow the Volleyball BC Selection Policy, and evaluated based on the Team BC Athlete Identification Matrix.

Team BC Red & Blue HP Camp Overview

Location: Kamloops – Thompson Rivers University (TRU)
Date & Times: July 7 – 12 2023
Accommodation: TRU Residence
Food: TRU Food Services
Medical Services: Head Therapist & Student Therapist on-site
Fee’s: $1100 + GST

Fee’s include 6 days of training and competition, food, accommodation, training shirts, and on site medical therapy.

Program Fees

Travel Athlete: $2100-2500*

Fees include 7 days of training, performance services, Team BC apparel, travel and participation and transportation to the Canada Cup. Food and accommodation services will be provided for both competitions and training. 

Training Alternate Athlete: $750-1000*

Fees include 12 days of training, performance services, Team BC apparel, Food and accommodation services will be provided for training block.
