Program Overview

The Team BC Red & Blue program is an athlete’s first opportunity to be identified to train, grow and compete for BC at national level competition. Athletes have future potential to excel and compete for BC at National competitions such as the Canada Cup, and Canada Summer Games. 

The 2022 Team BC Red & Blue program will identify and select two teams, 17U ( 2005 or later) and 16U ( 2006 or later), to train and compete at the Canada Cup. Athletes will train in a camp based program for 10 days. Training will be led by a full coaching staff and integrated support team to ensure athletes meet their full potential. 

Eligible Athletes

Team BC Red 17U – BC athletes born in 2005 or younger.

Team BC Blue 16U – BC athletes born in 2006 or younger.

Note: The extended 16-month age categories do apply for the Team BC Red & Blue Programs. 

Athlete Identification & Selection Process
Step 1 – Athlete Identification 

Athletes can participate in the Team BC Red & Blue program by first attending the regional selection camps for their home region. Selection camps consist of 3-4 hrs of on court play and evaluation, and will take place either May 28/29 or June 4/5. Athletes may attend a regional selection camp outside their home region should there be a conflict. Athletes who cannot attend any selection camp may also submit an External Identification Application Form 2022

Step 2 – Team BC Regional Training Centre (RTC)

*New for 2022 *Team BC Regional Training Centre (RTC) is the optional preparatory training program to support athletes who are identified for Team BC Red and Blue Program (16U & 17U) to train in their home region in preparation for the Red & Blue Selection Camp.

Training Overview:
RTC Program training schedule will train for 14-16 hours in June with 15-17U athlete cohorts. Training will be led by a full coaching staff and integrated support team to ensure athletes meet their full potential. Athletes will be provided support services by partners Athlete Wellness Academy (AWA). 

Program Fee’s: $ 275+ GST/Athlete

Fee’s include 14-16 hours of training, AWA support services and RTC training shirts. Training fee’s are approximate, and based on zone training schedule.

Step 3 – Team BC Red & Blue Selection Camp

Eligible Athletes: BC athletes born in 2005 & 2006 or younger  who have been identified from the regional selection camp and or Team BC Select final selection camp and invited to participate in the program final selection camp. 

Number of Positions Available: Team BC Red (17U) – up to 14 travel athletes , Team BC Blue (16U) – up to 14 travel athletes, up to 6 training athletes (do not travel)

Selection Policy & Criteria: Athletes selection for the Team BC Select Program will follow the Volleyball BC Selection Policy, and evaluated based on the Team BC Selection Criteria.

Team BC Red & Blue Program Selection Camp Overview

Location: Kamloops, TRU BC
Date & Times: July 6 – 10 2022

Medical Services: Head Therapist & Student Therapist on-site
Fee’s: $750 + GST

Fee’s include 4 days of training and competition, food, accommodation, training shirts, and on site medical therapy.

Transportation: Athletes & coaches will bus from Kamloops to Calgary. Athletes will be bus back to BC and have multiple drop off points for athlete pick up. 

Program Fees

Travel Athlete $2600 + GST
Fees include 10 days of training, accommodation, food and on-site therapy, Team BC apparel, travel to Calgary AB, accommodation and food in Calgary during training and the Canada Cup.
