Four Past B.C. Provincial Champions to Represent Canada in the Dominican Republic

B.C. will be well represented at the upcoming NORCECA beach volleyball event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic as two former and two current Big West Volleyfest Champions (Pro Beach Provincials) take to the sand to represent Canada, Sept. 28-30th.

Canada-A will be the team of Devon May and Darby Dunn, the current Big West Volleyfest Champions.

May shared on Instagram, “Can’t wait to chase down more balls this weekend in the Domincan with Darby Dunn for our first NORCECA event.”

May is currently listed on the University of Alabama Birmingham’s roster.

Dunn also captured the overall VBC Pro Tour title and the Penticton Pro this past year, and placed fifth at the Vancouver Open with her partner college partner Sammee Thomas. Dunn is heading into her Junior year at Stetson University.

Canada-B will be the team of twin sisters, Nicole & Megan McNamara – the 2015 West Volleyfest Champions. The twins have also captured the prestigious Vancouver Open title three times – 2014, 2015 & 2016 – and are the current Canadian Senior National Champions.

Megan shared on Instagram, “Can’t wait to head to the Dominican Republic for NORCECA this weekend.”

Nicole and Megan were also a part of UCLA’s National Championship winning team this past Spring, receiving Pac-12 Pair of the Year honours and Nicole being named Pac-12 Player of the Year. This year they will be entering their Senior year with the Bruins.

Internationally the they captured Gold at the FISU World University Beach Volleyball Championship in Munich and placed fourth at an FIVB event in Bangkok this past Summer.
