The Volleyball Canada Board adopted the DDC recommendation to modify net heights for |
2011/2012 National Championships for females to: |

2.15m 14U |

2.20m 16U |

2.24m 18U |

Rationale: Females typically experience Peak Height Velocity (largest/fastest growth spurt) |
at 12 years old. At 15 or 16 years most Canadian Females are near or have reached adult |
height. Raising the net height will encourage correct execution of attacking skills, reduce |
the difficulty of receiving serve, increase opportunities to attack the ball on serve reception, |
and increase rallies. Top volleyball countries with a similar height distribution in their |
population base such as the USA, Brazil, Switzerland, Italy, France and Holland, all have a |
net height higher than 2.15m for females at the 16U age category |
**New net heights will be applied to the 2011/12 Indoor season. The net height |
change is currently NOT recommended for Beach Championships, but is under |
review** |
