Atomic Volleyball

Atomic Volleyball

Volleyball BC would like to thank the Federal and Provincial Governments and 2010 Legacies Now for ensuring Volleyball will be sustainable in our province through the Sport Participation Program.

Atomic Volleyball, a program being presented by Volleyball Canada, is designed for 9-12 year olds learning and playing volleyball in a fun, weekly program.

Volleyball BC is offering support for coaching development and equipment to groups (clubs, community centers, etc) who are currently (last 6 months) running 9-12 year old  programs in communities.

Volleyball BC‘s Goal: Atomic is known in every community in BC as the place to receive great, trained coaching and skill development that will turn into a life long love of volleyball.
Participants: Atomic is geared to 9-12 year old youth looking for an instruction combined with an opportunity to practice their skills in game situations.  All sessions will be co-ed and targeted towards the skill level of the majority of participants.  Beginners can look forward to basic skill instruction, while more advanced players will have an opportunity to focus on developing positive habits.
Format: Each weekly session may include coaching and drills targeted to skill progression for passing, setting, serving, hitting, and blocking.  Intersquad game play will be part of each session and opportunities for exhibition play will be arranged for the participants throughout the 8 weeks.

Volleyball BC’s Steering Committee will be sending out information to all clubs, community centers, schools in BC in early fall for program delivery in the Fall, Winter, and Summer seasons.

Program Summary

The ATOMIC program has been developed for players aged nine to twelve. The program is designed so that youth who have never played the game can learn in a participation based fun environment.  It also provides the opportunity for those players who have completed the Mini-Volley program to continue learning the skills of the sport through a House League System.

Each player learns at their own rate. This is emphasized in each of the sessions. There are drills for all players and accommodations made for the starter player.

Program Overview

The structure is based on an 8 week program, 1.5 hours of skill and play time per session. The game format is modified to accommodate the 9-12 year old age demographic. The games are 4 versus 4 on a badminton sized court. atomic Expenses: The only hard cost is a $40 atomicmembership fee per athlete.

Athletes who participate will benefit with:

-   An Atomic Volleyball membership (able to participate in Volleyball BC events)

-   8 weeks of training from trained coaches (1.5 hours a week)

-  Great prizes

-  T-shirt included

The School or Club will benefit with equipment that is yours to keep.
Equipment choices include: volleyballs (Baden VolleyLite, Composite or Leather), ball carts or assorted other Baden equipment.
