Vancouver Open Day 1 Recap: Qualifiers, League Champs’ Match, Tour Update!

Day 1 at the 25th Anniversary Vancouver Open Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament ended with extreme sunshine, volleyball royalty sightings, with 4 lucky pairs from both the men’s side and women’s side qualifying for the weekend main draw!

Men’s Qualifier Winners:

McFarlen/Collett, Simpson/McLean, Tudor/Hinds, Garcia/Mytropan

Women’s Qualifier Winners:

Weitzenfeld/Cunningham,  Neurauter/Young, Abbott/Abbott, Parent/Welyhorsky

Youth Qualifier 16U Girls Winners:

Beck/Krau, Dickinson/Lang, Kramer/Smith, Copping/Hartmann

Saturday and Sunday will showcase our Vancouver Open – Presented by Dunbar Cycles Main Draw. 32 teams from both the Men’s and Women’s side will compete for a large portion of the $15,000 prize winnings.

Tonight also featured Volleyball BC’s first ever Adult League Champions of Champions feature match, where we invited our top teams from Monday and Thursday Coed 4s league to battle out for ultimate bragging rights! Team Pug Life won in a thrilling 3 set match against Team Baby Friday. Video recap to be posted soon.

As Vancouver Open is the last stop for the VBC Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, the chase for the Tour Championship title will conclude this weekend with a tight race between Joel Caschetto and Dave Beleznay on the Men’s side, along with Rachelle Thomas and the Birker/Dunn duo on the Women’s.
