TWU – No. 1 Spartans Aim to Stay Perfect, Play Host to Saskatchewan

LANGLEY, B.C. – The No. 1 ranked Trinity Western women’s volleyball team returns home with an eight-match winning streak, playing host to the Saskatchewan Huskies Friday and Saturday at the Langley Events Centre Fieldhouse.

THE WEEKEND STORY

  • TWU earned its seventh and eighth victories on the season last weekend, defeating Manitoba in straight-sets on consecutive nights (Nov. 15-16).
  • Since losing the opening set of the season, the Spartans have won 24 sets in a row.
  • The Spartans play host to a Saskatchewan team that split a pair of five-set games at UBC Okanagan.
  • TWU’s offence will roll through outside hitter Hilary Howe (Calgary), who sits second in conference kills per set (4.48), service aces per set (0.76), and points per set (5.5).
  • Spartan middle Avery Heppell (Langley) will look to continue her dominance on the defensive side, currently leading the conference in blocks per set (1.40).
  • TWU sits first in team hitting percentage at .286, while Saskatchewan is third at .248.
  • The Spartans have won 17 of their last 18 against the Huskies dating back to January 29, 2011, including winning both matchups last season (Nov. 16-17).  Their only loss over that span was Oc. 21, 2017 when the Huskies won 3-0 in Saskatoon.
