Team BC Zone Program Overview 2019

Team BC is the pathway for young athletes who aspire to reach the elite level and who dream to one day represent Canada on the National Men’s or Women’s Volleyball Team. Team BC programs work to advance volleyball talent and build a broader and stronger pipeline of athletes and coaches for our Canadian Olympic Teams.

The Team BC Zone Program is a regional based program where athletes are identified and selected to a zone team, and will train and compete at the BC Cup in odd years, and the BC Summer Games in even years.

**New for 2019, Team BC Zone Program will take an integrated approach to athlete development by exposing athletes to both Indoor & Beach development opportunities. Athletes will participate in 24-32 hours of indoor training, and 8-12 hours of beach training. The BC Cup will be comprised of both indoor and beach tournament play. The decision to integrate indoor and beach training reflects the recommendation for Train to Train athletes in the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework published by the Canadian Sport for Life Society. For more information on LTAD, please visit Volleyball Canada’s website here**
