Team BC Red & Blue 2019 Program Overview

Team BC is the pathway for young athletes who aspire to reach the elite level and who dream to one day represent Canada on the National Men’s or Women’s Volleyball Team. Team BC programs work to advance volleyball talent and build a broader and stronger pipeline of athletes and coaches for our Canadian Olympic Teams.

The Team BC Red & Blue Program (Formerly Team BC 16U) has been renamed to better reflect the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework published by the Canadian Sport for Life Society. Coaches and athletes will continue to bridge the Train to Train and Train to Compete stages of the Sport for Life model by advancing physical, technical-tactical, mental, and emotional attributes through sport. Athletes will be selected following an assessment of developmental level rather than age specific identifiers. Team BC Select programs will compete annually at the Canada Cup, and every four years at the Canada Summer Games.

EPACT – Medical Information

Volleyball BC uses the services of ePACT, a very secure online emergency network, to improve emergency preparedness and safety for all our athletes. ePACT provides us with more accurate, up to date and legible information than the paper forms we’ve used in past. By utilizing a web-based platform, we can securely access the system via smartphone, tablet or computer at any training or competition location.

Using ePACT:

-Each player’s family will receive an email invitation from Volleyball BC to use ePACT.
-Families create their ePACT account, entering required details, such as medical needs and emergency contacts.
-Families securely connect with Volleyball BC allowing coaches/managers access to their information.
-Families can update ePACT anytime during the year, and we will automatically be alerted (e.g. add a new cell phone or new emergency contact, and we receive that update).

BC External Credentials Program

Athletes that participate with the Team BC Red & Blue program are eligible to earn Athlete 11 external sports credentials. Eligible athletes will receive a verification letter from Volleyball BC in August once the BC Summer Games have completed. For more information on the pre-approved athlete programs, and how to get credit please visit the Government of BC’s website.
