2019 Program Overview

The Volleyball BC Team BC Beach Programs work to advance volleyball talent and build a broader and stronger pipeline of athletes and coaches for our Canadian Olympic Teams. Team BC is the pathway for young athletes who aspire to reach the elite level and who dream to one day represent Canada on the National Men’s or Women’s Volleyball Team. The Team BC Beach 16U & 18U program provides the opportunity for selected athletes to train and compete in preparation for the Vancouver Open and AVP First National Championships.

Eligible Athletes

BC athletes born in 2001 or 2003 or later
Note: The extended 16-month age categories do not apply for the Team BC Beach program.  Overage athletes born in 2000 are not eligible to compete.

Selection Process

Athletes must participate in the Team BC Beach 16 & 18U Qualification Tournament – scheduled for the Lower Mainland Sand Series 1, tentatively June 22-23rd Vancouver. The top two placing teams from the 16U division and top two teams from the 18U division will be invited to participate with the Team BC 16U & 18U Beach program. *Qualification tournament details and dates to be confirmed.

16U (2003 or later) – 2 male pairs, 2 female pairs
18U (2001 or later) – 2 male pairs, 2 female pairs

Team Gear

All Athletes will receive a Volleyball BC gear package (training shirts, jersey, top + bottom and bag).

Team BC 16 & 18U Training Block 1 – Vancouver Open 

Dates: July 8-14th 2019
Location: Vancouver, BC
Accommodations: TBA
: Athletes will be provided $45/day per diem
Transportation: Athletes and families will be responsible for transportation to Vancouver.
Training Schedule: TBA
Competition: Athletes will compete in Youth Open and/or Adult Qualifier and Main Draw.

Team BC 16U & 18U Training Block 2 – AVP First National Championships  

Dates: July 23-28th 2019
Location: Hermosa Beach, CA
Accommodations: TBA
: Athletes will be provided $45/day per diem
Transportation: Flight itinerary TBA
Training Schedule: TBA
Competition: AVP First Club and National Championships

International Travel

Selected Athletes must have a valid passport in order to participate and travel with the Team BC program.
Selected athletes must also bring a travel consent form – https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/children/consent-letter
Athletes will also need to purchase their own travel insurance for the trip.

Program Fees

$1400 + GST
Fees include – Coaching Costs, Team BC Beach Gear, and entry fee for Volleyball BC Provincials & AVP First Nations, accommodation and food for Training Block 1 & 2, Travel to Los Angeles California.
Fee’s do not include – Travel insurance
