Rain, sun, and great volleyball. The 2016 Kits Classic had it all!

This last weekend the 2016 Kits Classic Amateur and Pro events took place at Kits Beach in Vancouver, BC. The Kits Classic amateur event took place on Sunday with a large number of men’s and women’s teams competing. There was a wide range of skill levels and a fun mix of new and returning players for the amateur tournament.

The Pro event ran both Saturday and Sunday with a total of 128 pro men and women competing. This was the first event of the Volleyball BC Pro tour with a $2,500 prize purse, and points being accumulated towards the tour championship. As the athletes came down to Kits Saturday morning, they were greeted with cold rain and wind for pool play, but on Sunday the weather made a complete u-turn with blue skies and widespread sunshine.

2016-Kits-ClassicIn the women’s pro final, Kaufmanis/Cordonier edged out Wooding/Chow in an exciting three set match that ended 16-14. On the men’s side, Caverly/Galloway displayed a great defensive effort in the strong winds to beat Wiskar/Del Bianco in two sets.
