More than 70 adult doubles teams and 130 youth doubles teams braved smoky and warm conditions at the Spanish Banks East Beach on Aug. 5th & 6th for the 2017 Big West Volleyfest.

B.C. Provincial Beach Volleyball Champions were crowned in the 13U Girls, 14U Girls, 13/14U Boys, 15U Girls, 15U Boys, 16U Girls, 16U Boys, 17/18 U Girls, 17/18 U Boys, Adult Women and Adult Men categories.

HIghlights of the tournament included, Devon May reaching the top podium spot for the first time as a pro women’s competitor (with partner Kumiko Chow), Matt Marthinsen and Markus Bratsberg moving up to the 17/18 U Boys category and repeating as provincial champions (They won the 16U Boys category in 2016) and Nolin Lee-Pii and Kaitlin Ingram winning their first provincial title in the 13U Girls category.

This concludes Volleyball BC’s major events of the summer. Good luck to all the athletes returning back to indoor season!
