This past weekend, several of B.C’s top volleyball players took to the court at the Richmond Olympic Oval to vie for the 2018 Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championship.
The event has been put on by Volleyball BC since the late-eighties and often features competitive club teams, adult rec teams, university alumni, and groups of intermediate-to-elite athletes. Proceeds from the tournament were donated to support the Women’s National Team.
This year saw two new champions crowned.
On the women’s side, PUMPED, went through the tournament undefeated and knocked off the reigning champs, Scrambled Eggs in three thrilling sets (25-14, 19-25, 17-15).
On the men’s side, The Dogs, also went through the tournament undefeated, ousting a talented RTW squad in the finals (25-21, 25-22).
