VOLLEYBALL BC EMPLOYMENT NOTICE: SUMMER EVENT STAFF

Volleyball BC is the provincial sport governing body, which actively encourages and provides opportunities to enjoy, participate and excel in the sport of volleyball.

Our summer program involves over five hundred teams playing in weeknight leagues and over three hundred teams playing in weekend tournaments from April to August. We are looking for enthusiastic, qualified individuals to coordinate our summer events, and to promote our programs.  Successful candidates will be outgoing, articulate and comfortable working in a team atmosphere.  He/she must be available to work weekends and evenings as well as regular office hours.  He/she must be comfortable working outdoors and conducting meetings.

Summer Positions

1. Full-time Event Coordinators  35 hours/week for up to 20 weeks at $13/hour (Apr 16-Aug 24) or (May 21-Aug 24)

Responsibilities:

Coordinate events including; facilitating leagues and tournaments, website upkeep, office and administrative duties, planning volleyball social events, support high profile volleyball tournaments, event report forms, equipment inventory and maintenance.

Marketing/Promotions including: ongoing communication with participants, recruitment of participants, sponsorship partnership maintenance, website updates, and Special Event participation.

 

2. Part-time Event Assistants  3-18 hours/week for up to 16 weeks at $10/hour (between April 24 and August 24)

Primarily Weeknights 3-6pm and/or Weekends 6-9am/2-5pm

Responsibilities:

Assist with events including on-site set-up at leagues and tournaments, administrative duties and equipment maintenance.

Marketing/Promotions including communication with participants, sponsor recognition, and promoting volleyball social events.

 

Qualifications:

  • must be knowledgeable about the game of volleyball
  • must have good organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • must be able to work evenings and/or weekends
  • must have a valid drivers license
  • must have a proactive attitude and strong inter-personal skills
  • education in sport administration, promotion, and marketing an asset
  • standard first aid certification
  • computer and internet knowledge
  • event coordination experience
